GOV.UK Statistics

Search UK government statistics via the GOV.UK Search API. No authentication required.

Data Model

• Statistics — Departmental statistics pages describing what an organisation publishes.
• Official Statistics Announcements — Pre-announcements and published releases of official and national statistics.

Search Filters

• filter_content_store_document_type — Filter by document type (e.g. statistics, official_statistics_announcement).
• filter_organisations — Filter by publishing organisation slug (e.g. office-for-national-statistics).
• order — Sort order: -public_timestamp (newest first) or public_timestamp (oldest first).

Key Fields in Results

• title — Publication title
• description — Summary text
• link — Path on GOV.UK (prefix with https://www.gov.uk)
• public_timestamp — Publication date (ISO 8601)
• organisations — List of publishing organisations

Gotchas

• The search API returns max 1500 results per query (use start for pagination).
• count parameter controls results per page (default 10, max ~1500).
• Use official_statistics_announcement document type for statistical releases; statistics for departmental statistics overview pages.
