Scottish Spatial Data Infrastructure (SSDI)

The SSDI GeoNetwork catalogue provides metadata records for Scottish geospatial datasets. No authentication required.

Data Sources

Metadata records come from multiple Scottish public bodies:

• Ordnance Survey — Base mapping and address data for Scotland
• NatureScot — Protected areas, habitats, species
• Historic Environment Scotland — Listed buildings, scheduled monuments, battlefields
• SEPA (Scottish Environment Protection Agency) — Flood maps, water quality, waste sites
• Transport Scotland — Road network, traffic, public transport
• Marine Scotland — Marine protected areas, fisheries data
• Scottish Government — Planning, land use, boundaries, census

Search Tips

• Use query for free-text keyword search across titles, abstracts, and keywords
• Common keywords: "flood", "habitat", "transport", "boundary", "planning", "marine"
• Each record has a UUID that can be used to fetch full details
• Records may include links to WMS/WFS services for direct data access

Record Structure

• uuid — Unique identifier for the metadata record
• title — Human-readable dataset name
• abstract — Description of the dataset
• keywords — Subject keywords and themes
• links — URLs to data services (WMS, WFS, download)
• spatial extent — Geographic coverage
• temporal extent — Date range of the data
